Hyundai Steps It Up for Oscar Commercials

Hyundai created a pair of commercials to run during the Oscars, and they are surprisingly well done. The car company had director Wes Anderson (creator of "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "The Life Aquatic") to create the videos, the first of which is titled "Talk to My Car," and the second "Modern Life." Take a look, what do you think of the ads?

Who would have thought even a few years ago that Hyundai would successfully market itself through TV commercials as one of the hippest car companies?
The latest example: Hyundai tapped cult-classic movie director Wes Anderson ("The Royal Tenenbaums," "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou") to produce a pair of spots for the Azera that ran during the Academy Awards telecast.
One, titled “Talk to My Car,” focuses on Hyundai’s BlueLink system's ability to easily find an Italian restaurant when the driver asks for it. To set up the spot’s premise that it’s “always been a dream to talk to our cars,” Anderson includes references to "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," "Knight Rider," "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "The Italian Job" – all in 30 seconds.
